FAQs:
Absolutely not! Although, having agency representation should be a career goal, it’s not a necessity.
Get the training and tools necessary to get established, and then submit to your target agencies, casting directors, etc. We can help you develop a marketing plan through our Direct Marketing class as well found under Workshops. You can also ask for a referral if you know someone in the industry. We go over all of this in our VO Essentials class for parents. Sign up here.
Great question! The answer is yes and no. Booked work can be recorded at local pro studios in your area. Eventually you will want to have your own as your child’s career grows, but it can be done for not a lot of money starting out. Do some research on home studios and then reach out if you want some additional recommendations.
Another fantastic question! Auditions can be recorded on a smart phone or even a tablet these days. Pretty kool, huh? As long as you have a small enclosed space that’s quiet and not super echoey, you can record auditions from just about anywhere. We’ve known quite a few who have recorded in closets and even in their cars! There are also free recording software programs available, and decent microphones that are very affordable. We can help with recommendations on this too. Just reach out!
Kapow! You’re on fire! This is the best question yet. And the answer is, it depends. Each kid learns at a different pace, but on average from first class to finished demo, the timespan is usually about 3 to 4 months when working consistently. We recommend starting with a group class and a minimum of 6 private sessions before we assess demo readiness. Ongoing training throughout anyone’s career is highly recommended for continued success.
